Let all guests who come be received as Christ would be, for He will say, “I was a stranger, and you took me in.” – The Rule of St. Benedict
FIRST: CHRISTIAN
To be a member of Transitus, one must be (or consider oneself) a Christian. Catholic members must be validly baptized, adhering to the fullness of the Catholic Faith, and living in good standing with the Catholic Church in communion with the Pope (the Apostolic See of St. Peter in Rome).
Non-Catholic members (Orthodox, Protestant, or “Emergent”) are not bound to a full profession of the Catholic Faith and the precepts of the Catholic Church for membership into Transitus. They are welcome as guests, and as brothers and sisters to participate according to their level of interest and ability in our School of Christian Perfection, which is nothing other than the Deposit of Faith prayed, studied, and lived.
As disciples of Our Lord Jesus Christ, all members mustto the best of their ability and cooperation with gracefaithfully observe the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church, and pursue union with God through the perfection of charity, diligently working to build up the Mystical Body of Christ and preserve its unity.

SECOND: LAITY
To be a member of Transitus, one must be of the Laity. In other words, no consecrated religious or ordained clergy--bishops, priests, and deacons (or seminarians)--of the Catholic Church, the Orthodox churches, or any other holy orders that are officially recognized as valid by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church (which does not include persons ordained in the Anglican, Episcopalian, or other Protestant rites) are permitted to be members of Transitus.
Members, even if they are civilly “ordained” or serve in “full-time ministry”--though recognized for their distinct position within their own ecclesial communities or confession and the particular gifts they may bring to Transitus--are considered laymen, and therefore are welcome to be admitted as members. Lay members of Catholic third orders, secular institutes, ecclesial movements, or other associations of the Faithful are welcome to join unless one is otherwise restricted.
If one is considering a vocation to the priesthood or consecrated religious life but has not made any formal steps toward it, he or she is welcome to be a member. In fact, the association, with its Rule and School of Perfection, may serve as a unique source of discernment and preparation for the consecrated religious life or the ministerial priesthood.
Ordained clergy and consecrated religious will serve as overseers and advisors of Transitus, and will be at the disposal of Transitus Oblates worldwide. They are also eligible to be members of the General Council of Directors.

To be a member of Transitus, one must be at least 18 years of age, and there is no limit to how old one is. Note: A Transitus youth and young adult program called Juventus will be made available soon for them and the youth and young adult directors who serve them.
Members under the age of 21 or who are still living with their parents or legal guardian should ask for permission before joining. If married, the Candidate should receive spousal approval for marital harmony and to acknowledge the union that is the sacrament of Holy Matrimony. If possible, approval from one’s priest, pastor, or spiritual director is encouraged in order to publicly express the good will of the member and of Transitus.
FOUR: HONESTY & COOPERATION
To be a member of Transitus, one must acknowledge he or she is only bound to commit oneself according to their level of interest, ability, circumstance, and measure of grace, and is free to increase or decrease their level of commitment or even leave the association at any time.

All information must be accurate according to the best of one’s knowledge. Any dishonest or withheld information may affect one’s admission and membership in the association. Inquirers must submit to the process of admission and accept the decision made by the General Council of Directors. Appeals are accepted.
All information will remain private and will not be shared with anyone other than administrators within Transitus and the Catholic Church or for necessary background verification, unless permission is granted from the applicant or member in advance. Background verification (whether sacramental or civil) will only be as thorough as necessary to ensure the good will of each applicant or member and the well being of all other members.
