for membership into TRANSITUS.

To be a member of Transitus, the inquirer must fill out and submit the Membership Application and wait for a response (via e-mail, or when necessary, a letter or phone call) from a member of the Council of Directors. The applicant should receive word within a month (sometimes immediately or within a few days) that their application has been received though it could take longer depending upon the details of the application or the schedule of those reviewing the application.

Each applicant--to demonstrate their understanding of the nature and purpose of Transitus, and their assent to its Rule and School of Perfection--must write and submit a brief paragraph (or more) describing (in their own words) what it means to be a “lay monastic” and in particular, a Transitus Oblate, including any other pertinent information.

Each applicant submits the name(s) of their chosen patron Saint(s), which will serve as their official name in Transitus, and will be listed between their first and last legal name. Each applicant is free to use their Baptism or Confirmation name or they may choose a new one (no more than two).

The admission process may require some communication back and forth but only that which is necessary for the applicant to ask questions and clarify uncertainties, and for the Director to provide feedback and offer suggestions before moving forward. Once the inquirer has received word that their application has been approved, and after the applicant has celebrated the rite of admission--praying the Act of Oblation to Divine Merciful Love--he or she thus proclaims their fidelity to the Gospel through their covenant promises, and obedience to the Rule as a Member.

OBEDIENCE & COMMITMENT*	Do you understand the level of obedience and commitment required of members? Transitus members are only bound to what they can do. They are encouraged to commit themselves, according to their circumstance and measure of grace, only to that which they have the interest, the ability, and the time insofar as they do not alter the Rule and School of Perfection itself, nor any of its particulars, their meaning or their terms, or by arbitrarily replacing their duties with something else. Members can do more or do less than what is suggested, and they are free to increase or decrease their level of commitment, or even leave the association at any time. TRADITIONAL ROMAN RITE*	Do you understand Transitus is based primarily - but not exclusively - on the "Extraordinary Form" of the Roman Rite according to the 1962 Roman calendar, missal, breviary, etc.? The Transitus “school of perfection”, which is essentially liturgical, is therefore based upon and rooted in the Church’s Liturgical Year primarily according to the Traditional Roman (Latin) Rite according to the Missale Romanum (Roman Missal) of Pope St. Pius V promulgated by Pope Bl. John XXIII in 1962 and never abrogated; but inclusive to all valid rites of the universal Church--East and West. Catholic members are free to follow the Catholic liturgical calendar and rite of their choice in fulfilling their ordinary obligations as Catholics and their duties as Transitus Oblates, though possessing the right to participate in the Church’s liturgical life exclusively according to the Traditional Roman Rite with it’s calendar, missal, breviary, popular devotions, customs, and spirit. All non-Catholic members will be required to follow exclusively the Traditional Roman Rite for the fulfillment of their duties as Transitus Oblates.
